Website legal documents, drafted clearly
Gjethe drafts the legal documents websites and apps typically need, privacy policy, terms of service, cookie policy and consent banner set-up, Impressum, refund and returns policy, acceptable use policy and data processing agreement templates, based on how your site actually collects and uses data. We are not a law firm: drafts are a starting point that a qualified lawyer should review before you rely on them.

Definition
What is legal documents?
Website legal documents are the policies and terms published on a website or app that explain how personal data is handled, the rules for using the service, and who operates it, as required or recommended by laws such as the GDPR.
Copying another company's privacy policy is common and risky: it describes their data practices, not yours. Useful legal documents start with facts, what data your site collects, which tools receive it, where it's stored, how long you keep it and why. Because we build and audit websites, we can document those facts accurately and turn them into clear drafts. A lawyer then confirms they fit your legal situation.

Which documents does a website typically need?
Exact requirements depend on your business, location and customers.
| Document | Why |
|---|---|
| Privacy policy | Data protection laws such as the GDPR require transparency about personal data processing |
| Cookie policy and consent | EU and UK rules require consent for most non-essential cookies and trackers |
| Terms of service | Sets the rules for using your service and limits misunderstandings |
| Impressum | Required for many commercial websites aimed at Germany and Austria; Switzerland has similar disclosure rules |
| Returns and refunds policy | Consumer law gives EU buyers withdrawal rights for many online purchases |
| Data processing agreement | Needed when you process personal data on behalf of business customers |
Why the facts come first
A privacy policy is a description of what really happens to personal data. If your site uses Google Analytics, a Meta pixel, a newsletter tool, a chat widget and a payment provider, the policy must say so, along with why, on what legal basis and for how long. A generic template can't know that.
We scan your site, review your forms and integrations, and ask about your internal processes. The resulting inventory is useful on its own: it's the starting point for your records of processing and for answering customers' data questions.
Consent banners that actually work
Many cookie banners are decorative: trackers load before anyone clicks, or rejecting is much harder than accepting. Regulators in the EU have taken action against both. A banner should block non-essential cookies until consent is given and make declining as easy as accepting.
We configure consent tools such as Cookiebot or Usercentrics, connect them to Google consent mode and your tags, and test that scripts really wait for consent.

Common mistakes to avoid
What we see go wrong most often, and how a good project avoids it.
Copying another site's policy
It describes their data practices, not yours.
Banners that don't block trackers
A banner that loads cookies before consent doesn't do its job.
Forgetting updates
New tools mean the privacy policy needs updating.
Skipping legal review
Drafts aren't a substitute for advice on your specific situation.
Frequently asked questions
Gjethe is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Documents we prepare are drafts based on the information you provide and how your website works; have them reviewed by a qualified lawyer before relying on them.
Are you lawyers?
No. We draft documents based on how your site works and on published regulations and guidance. A qualified lawyer should review them before you rely on them, especially for regulated businesses.
Is this legal advice?
No. Our drafts and this page are general information, not legal advice for your situation.
Do I need an Impressum?
Many commercial websites aimed at Germany and Austria must have one, and Switzerland has similar disclosure rules. We draft it with your company details; your lawyer can confirm requirements.
Can you set up the cookie banner?
Yes. We configure consent tools and test that non-essential tracking waits for consent.
Do you cover the GDPR and Swiss data protection law?
We draft with the GDPR, UK GDPR, the ePrivacy rules and the Swiss FADP in mind, depending on your markets. Your lawyer should confirm the legal analysis.
Can you translate our documents?
Yes, into Albanian, English and German. Legally binding versions should be reviewed by a lawyer in that jurisdiction.
Can you draft an NDA or contract?
We can prepare templates for common agreements, but contracts carry significant risk, so we strongly recommend a lawyer drafts or reviews them.
How often should documents be updated?
Whenever your data practices change (new tools, new features, new markets) and periodically reviewed.
Can you help with accessibility statements?
Yes, based on an accessibility review of your site.
Will these documents make us compliant?
Documents are only part of compliance. Your actual practices (data security, consent, retention, handling requests) must match what the documents say.
Do you keep documents up to date?
We can review your documents when you add new tools or features, or on a regular schedule, and update the drafts accordingly.
Can you publish the documents on our site?
Yes. We create the pages, link them in your footer, forms and checkout, and set up the consent banner.
Can you help with data subject requests?
We can set up a simple process and templates for handling access and deletion requests. Decisions on complex requests should involve your legal adviser.
