Definition

What is 3d modeling & rendering?

3D modelling is building digital three-dimensional representations of objects or spaces. Rendering turns those models, with materials and lighting, into images or animations.

3D renders replace or extend photography. A single accurate model can produce studio shots in every colour, lifestyle images in settings you'd never book a shoot for, close-ups of details, and interactive views on your website. For products not yet manufactured or spaces not yet built, 3D is often the only way to show them. This page focuses on models and still renders; for animated video, see 3D animation.

Who is it for?

  • E-commerce brands

Consistent product images for every variant.

  • Furniture and interiors

Products shown in styled rooms without a photo shoot.

  • Architects and developers

    Visualisations of unbuilt projects.

  • Manufacturers

Clean technical renders for catalogues and sales.

Accuracy matters

Customers buy based on what they see. A render that shows the wrong proportions, colour or material sets up returns and complaints. We work from accurate references (CAD files, measurements, material samples and photos) and ask you to check key details at the model stage before rendering.

Renders used to sell products should represent them honestly. Stylised lighting and settings are fine; misrepresenting size, finish or features is not.

3D for the web and AR

Interactive 3D viewers let shoppers rotate products and zoom into details, and AR lets them place items in their own room through their phone. Both need models optimised for real-time use: low enough polygon counts and texture sizes to load quickly on mobile while still looking good.

We prepare glTF and USDZ files, test them in common viewers and can help integrate them with model-viewer, Three.js or your e-commerce platform's 3D support.

What to send us

  • CAD files or technical drawings
  • Photos from several angles
  • Dimensions and material details
  • Colour references or physical samples
  • Reference images of the style you want
  • Where the renders will be used

Lifestyle scenes without a photo shoot

Showing a sofa in a sunlit living room or a lamp on a styled desk usually means renting a location, props and a photographer. In 3D, we build the scene once and place each product into it with consistent lighting.

Scenes can be adjusted for seasons, markets or campaigns (a different wall colour, a winter setting) without reshooting, which is especially useful for large ranges.

Architectural and interior visualisation

For buildings and interiors that don't exist yet, renders help clients, buyers and planners understand the result. Accuracy comes from the architect's drawings; atmosphere comes from lighting, materials and furnishing.

We produce exterior views, interior scenes and simple walkthrough stills, and update them as designs change. Renders used in property marketing should match the approved plans and be labelled as visualisations.

Keeping models useful long term

A well-built model is a reusable asset. We organise models with clean geometry, named parts and separate materials, so changing a colour, swapping a component or preparing a lighter web version later is quick.

We deliver source files on request in common formats, so your future designers or developers can keep using them.

Materials make renders believable

Realistic materials are what separate convincing renders from obviously artificial ones. Wood grain, brushed metal, fabric weave and subtle surface wear all respond to light in specific ways.

We match materials to your physical samples or reference photos and check them under different lighting before final rendering, so the finish customers see online matches what they receive.

Tools, and what shapes your quote

Pricing is based on your project and agreed in your quote. These are the things that move it.

3D Modeling & Rendering pricing factors
FactorWhy it matters
Model complexityDetailed products take longer to model.
Source filesCAD saves time compared with modelling from photos.
Number of renders and variantsEach extra angle or colour adds rendering.
Scene complexityDetailed interiors and lifestyle scenes take longer.
Real-time optimisationWeb and AR models need extra optimisation.

Common mistakes to avoid

What we see go wrong most often, and how a good project avoids it.

  • Inaccurate references

Wrong measurements create wrong renders. Confirm details early.

  • Over-perfect renders

A touch of real-world imperfection makes renders believable.

  • Heavy web models

Unoptimised models load slowly on phones.

  • Misrepresenting products

Renders must match what customers receive.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between this and 3D animation?

This service focuses on models and still images, turntables and web or AR models. For animated videos, see 3D animation in video services.

Can you work from our CAD files?

Yes. STEP, IGES, OBJ, FBX and other formats are converted and optimised for rendering.

Can you render all our colour variants?

Yes. Once the model is built, variants are efficient to produce.

Can you make AR models for our shop?

Yes. We prepare USDZ and glTF files and can help add them to your product pages.

Do you do interior visualisation?

Yes, from architectural drawings and mood boards.

How do revisions work?

Two rounds of revisions are included. Models and scenes are approved before final rendering.

Do we own the models?

Yes. Models created for you are yours, with source files on request.

Can you build a product configurator?

Yes. We create the 3D assets and our developers can build an interactive configurator for your site.

Can renders replace our product photos?

For studio-style images, often yes. Many brands mix renders with real lifestyle photography.

Will you sign an NDA for unreleased products?

Yes, on request. The terms are agreed in writing before you share files.

Can you render products for Amazon listings?

Yes. Main images on pure white and secondary lifestyle and feature images can all be rendered, following marketplace rules.

Can you model from a physical sample?

Yes. We work from measurements and photographs of the sample; for complex shapes, a 3D scan can help.

Can we use the renders in print?

Yes. We render at high resolution suitable for brochures, catalogues and large-format print.

Can you create 360° spins for our product pages?

Yes. Turntables can be delivered as image sequences for 360° viewers or as short looping videos.

What resolution are final renders?

Whatever your use requires, from web-optimised images to high-resolution files for large print.
